This Privacy Policy explains how HikerStats, operated by Vojtěch Kounovský, collects, uses, stores, and shares personal information when you use HikerStats. HikerStats is a hiking logging and analytics service.
2. Data controller

3. Information we collect
Depending on how you use HikerStats, we may collect:
Account information
- email address;
- account identifier;
- authentication information;
- account creation and login information.
Hiking information — you may provide:
- hike name; dates; distance; moving time;
- elevation gain and loss; pack weight; body weight;
- start and finish times; start and end locations; GPS coordinates;
- weather information; water availability; walking companions;
- food and resupply information; accommodation; shower information;
- sleep duration and quality; physical condition; pain, injuries, blisters or illness;
- perceived physical difficulty; perceived mental difficulty; enjoyment;
- highlights; lowlights; notes; other information you choose to provide.
Third-party activity data — if you connect services such as Garmin or Strava, HikerStats may receive activity information that you authorize the relevant service to provide. This may include distance, duration, speed, elevation, start and finish times, GPS/activity information, and other activity information provided by the integration.
Technical information — depending on the technical services used by HikerStats, we may collect information such as IP address, browser type, operating system, device information, timestamps, and error and diagnostic information.
4. How we use your information
We use information to:
- provide HikerStats and maintain your account;
- store your hiking records and calculate statistics;
- generate reports and charts;
- import activity information;
- provide customer support and troubleshoot technical problems;
- protect the service from abuse and investigate security incidents;
- improve HikerStats and communicate with you about the service;
- comply with legal obligations.
5. Administrative and support access
The operator of HikerStats has a small administrative system that can provide read-only access to user hiking records and related account information. This access is used for legitimate operational purposes such as:
- debugging;
- troubleshooting;
- investigating reported problems;
- responding to support requests;
- investigating security incidents;
- maintaining the service.
Administrative access is restricted to the operator and is not used for unrelated purposes. Administrative access is logged and protected with authentication and access controls.
6. Location information
HikerStats may process precise location information. Location data can reveal where you travelled, started, finished, stayed, or camped. You should avoid entering precise locations that you do not want stored.
7. Health-related information
Some information entered into HikerStats may reveal aspects of your health or physical condition, including injuries, pain, illness, sleep and physical condition.
You are not required to provide this information unless a particular feature requires it. You should only provide information that you are comfortable storing in HikerStats. Where applicable law treats information as special-category or sensitive personal data, we will process it only where an appropriate legal basis exists.
8. Information about other people
If you record information about walking companions or other people in notes, photographs, or other content, you are responsible for ensuring that you have an appropriate basis for providing that information. Please avoid entering unnecessary personal information about other people.
9. Third-party services
HikerStats uses third-party providers for hosting, databases, authentication, email, analytics, error monitoring and activity integrations. Current providers:
- Lovable (application hosting and deployment);
- Supabase (database, authentication and storage);
- Google (Google Sign-In, Google Maps geocoding, Google Analytics);
- Cookiebot by Usercentrics (cookie consent management);
- Open-Meteo and Visual Crossing (historical weather lookups);
- Strava and Garmin (activity integrations you choose to connect).
10. Garmin, Strava and other integrations
If you connect HikerStats to Garmin, Strava, or another third-party platform, information may be transferred between that platform and HikerStats according to the permissions you provide. Your use of those platforms is governed by their own terms and privacy policies. You can disconnect an integration through the relevant HikerStats controls where available.
11. Sharing information
We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose information:
- to service providers operating HikerStats;
- where necessary to provide an integration you requested;
- where required by law;
- to protect the rights, security, or property of HikerStats, users, or others;
- in connection with a merger, acquisition, restructuring, or transfer of the service, subject to applicable law.
12. Public information
Your hiking records are not automatically made public. If HikerStats provides public or shared-hike features, information will only be made available according to the relevant feature and controls.
13. Data retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide HikerStats and fulfil the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law. You may request deletion of your account and personal information.
14. Your rights
Depending on applicable law, you may have rights including:
- access;
- correction;
- deletion;
- restriction of processing;
- objection to certain processing;
- data portability;
- withdrawal of consent;
- the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority.

15. International transfers
Some service providers used by HikerStats may process information outside the Czech Republic or the European Economic Area. Where applicable, appropriate safeguards will be used as required by applicable data protection law.
16. Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information. However, no internet service can guarantee absolute security. You should use a strong, unique password and protect your account credentials.
17. Children
HikerStats is not intended for children under 16 years of age. If you believe that a child has provided personal information without appropriate authorization, contact privacy@hikerstats.com.
18. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date will be changed when updates are made.
